Charlotte Cotton

Curator and Head of Department, Photography,
Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)

Charlotte Cotton is curator and head of the photography department at LACMA. With a collection of more than 100,000 works of art, LACMA is the largest encyclopedic museum west of Chicago.

Previously, Charlotte was the curator of photographs at the Victoria and Albert Museum and head of programming at the Photographers' Gallery in London. She was a visiting professor at Yale University in 2006, and has been a visiting critic at the School of Visual Arts; Bard College; Cranbrook Academy of Art; Massachusetts College of Art and Design; and Otis College of Art and Design. She is the author of Imperfect Beauty, Then Things Went Quiet, Guy Bourdin, and The Photograph as Contemporary Art, and is the founding editor of www.wordswithoutpictures.org.
