Frish Brandt began working at the Fraenkel Gallery in the early 1980s. As Director and Partner of the San Francisco-based gallery, she has experienced directly how technology and photographic-art culture have evolved over the years.
As a student, Frish studied printmaking at the California College of Arts in Oakland, California. While there, she worked at the Imogen Cunningham Trust. The Trust provided Cunningham with services such as circulating exhibitions, publishing portfolios, and the management of reproduction rights. From there, Brandt began "Collected Visions" which provided living photographers with similar services. As Director of Fraenkel Gallery, she oversees a wide range of exhibitions and publications for which the Gallery is widely acknowledged. The Gallery's list of artists includes Hiroshi Sugimoto, Diane Arbus, Richard Avedon, Richard Misrach, Katy Grannan, Lee Friedlander, Idris Khan, and others.
